Maille, in her late twenties, a gas station attendant in Pointe Noire has a 10-year-old daughter, Franchesca of a rare intelligence, Binongui, her mother, who has been hospitalized for a month awaiting a surgery for kidney failure. Maille is forced to regularly ask for money from her aunt, Paule, who runs a luxury brothel.
